What about it?
Wellllll.
The art IS beautiful. [Especially at the parts where they animate that evening sunlight effect.] The colours are vivid and clean and very pretty to look at.
Still. The best part of this anime are the two main characters, and some very likable side characters as well. Kazehaya is not your typical shoujo lead guy, and neither is Sawako your typical shoujo lead girl.
*HERE I HAVE AN ABSOLUTTTT FANGIRL MOMENT.*
Kazehaya and Sawako are one of THE BEST anime couples out there right now. Although the anime is of the shoujo genre, the character development and the pacing of the episodes are good. Sawako never gets on my nerves even when she has that scary-but-actually-really-nice-and-innocent personality which is a typical shoujo cliche, and somehow or other she manages to pull it off (also kudos to the plot, I guess.) I love watching her character development, and she's just too lovable to hate. Everything she does just makes her more endearing.
To Kazehaya, of course. =)
Kazehaya is the PERFECT male lead for Sawako. Their relationship is simple and tender, and Kazehaya is surprisingly shy at times (which makes him awesome and all the more real) It is apparent right from the beginning that he really likes her, and I love the fact that although Sawako always assumes that she wouldn't be anything without Kazehaya, he acknowledges that it was all her own work and that she is also teaching him new things.
*FANGIRL SQUEE*
The sweetest relationship around, I swear. A change from one of my other favourite anime couples - Koizumi Risa and Otani Atsushi (is that how you spell it?) of LoveCom fame. [Which I SHALL be rewatching soon, at the end of the year.]
Besides them, the side characters add a lot to the story, (the Ryuu-Chizu storyline in the manga is becoming a bit annoying, however) by helping the development of the main characters. Generally, they don't annoy me (most of the time, the side characters annoy me, so this is a good thing.)
Character designs follow the manga, so I'm not going into that.
I mentioned about voice acting in one of my previous posts, and how I didn't really like it - well, it does sort of grow on you, and the voices are remarkably suited to the characters (even if I don't like Sawako's voice like that...still.)
Overall ~ this is one of those anime, in the category of TO WATCH. A good thing, since there hasn't been a lot of new GOOD shoujo anime lately. I think the last one that I watched was Skip Beat (had its great moments, but nothing like the manga, plus: Kyoko's voice somewhat grated on my nerves.)
Latest episode for Kimi Ni Todoke? Episode four, which I am watching tomorrow. Cheers. =D
